A KAZAKH COMPANY WILL HELP RUSSIA TO ELIMINATE THE CONSEQUENCES OF AN ECOLOGICAL DISASTER

BSG Technology, a Kazakh company specializing in oil waste treatment, will soon be working with Russia’s Nornickel to help it clean up the aftermath of the diesel spill that occurred in May this year. It passed a rigorous selection process among companies from around the world. As explained by the Kazakh company, the first stage of cleanup has already been completed and now it is necessary to process the collected waste. «The first stage of cleaning is the collection of spilled diesel fuel from the surface of the river by various means. While it was taking place, Nornickel’s managers started looking for firms that could carry out the second stage. The market was analyzed, and a foreign company and us were selected among applications from all over the world. Our task is to separate the collected liquid into diesel fuel, water and dirt with debris. It is a difficult job and not everyone can do it. We submitted an application with a description of our experience, our technical capabilities and the training of our specialists,» said Serik Baimukhanbetov, BSG Technology’s deputy director of business development. The Kazakhstani firm not only has a sufficient number of special installations and qualified specialists, but also the relevant work experience. Moreover, BSG Technology has an interesting approach to waste treatment. As Baimukhanbetov said, the company can separate and return the entire volume of oil products from the waste to the customer. He added that the necessary facilities and specialists have already traveled to the site despite the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. «We have passed all the approvals. We would like to express our gratitude to the Akimat of Mangistau region and the government commission for assistance in issuing an exit permit. This is a very important order for us. First of all, we are happy to provide our professional assistance to a historically brotherly nation, and also for us it means entering the international market and the opportunity to work with such a large global company as Nornickel,» said Serik Baimukhanbetov. In conclusion, he noted the difficult working conditions, as the cold winter weather arrives very early at the site. But the company has made provisions for work in sub-zero temperatures and prepared for harsh climatic conditions. We would like to remind you that the disaster that occurred near Norilsk was recognized as a federal emergency, and its consequences, especially for the ecosystem of the Arctic zone, are still unknown. More than 20,000 tons of fuel spilled out of the tank and flowed into the Daldykan River, and further into the Ambarnaya River and the Pyasino Lake.
